and Practice (CECP) maintains an extensive web site developed to improve
services to youngsters with emotional and behavioral disorders. You'll
find many resources including contacts to a wide network of researchers,
organizations, and child-serving programs; research-based information on
EBD youth; interactive discussions with experts in the field; and a large
collection of links on a variety of topics, including education, families,
mental health, juvenile justice, child welfare, early intervention, and
school violence, to name a few.

This part
of the "Gentle Teaching" site describes an approach to dealing with youngsters
that is much needed in our profession: the provision of unswerving kindness
toward those who need it most, but often try to reject it (initially).
A good refresher for all of us who entered the profession because we wanted
to help kids with emotional and behavioral disorders.
